Ozzie came to us from Mezcales. Someone passed by a house and saw him inside the patio, starving. We were able to go to the home and talk with the owners. They said he was a distemper survivor and could not gain weight. They were willing to relinquish him to us. Of course after bloodwork, it was discovered he had erlichea and was anemic. With the proper meds and diet, he easily gained weight. He had an old injury on one of his back legs. In December 2023, he had femoral head surgery to take the pain away so he can more comfortably get around. He’s a happy guy who seems to love life at the shelter.
