Hermosa was first spotted laying on the side of the road not far from the shelter. We stopped to get her as she looked very skinny but she also looked like she recently had puppies. We took her to the shelter to feed her and quickly realized she had milk. We made the difficult decision to put her back right where we found her. We figured if she had puppies somewhere, they needed her. The land by the shelter is just that; fields of grass and weeds. A few different times we tried to search for puppies but had no luck. We didn’t see Hermosa for a couple weeks but then she reappeared. Hermosa then went to Nancy’s, who lives by the shelter, and she stayed there. At that point we were sure the puppies weren’t alive. But, one week later, one by one, 3 little pups appeared (our superhero litter). The puppies are safe at the shelter but Hermosa prefers to stay at Nancy’s.
She does well around other dogs and we have started her vetting protocols. She will likely be ready for adoption by early February. She’s a super sweet and loving girl. She also has a docked tail, likely born that way.
